Yes we've have had a few triumphs and tantrums over the years, here are a few stories of STC members which have made the headlines...

STC Triathlete's Separated by Seconds at the Swanage Classic (August 2011)

Well done to STC triathlete Issaic Martinez who finished in 02:56:15 at the Swanage Classic on Sunday 14th August. Fellow STC competitors Neil Couling and Tim Hallet were separated by less than a minute with times 02:35:48 and 02:35:47 respectively. The race was won by Colin Dixon (unattached) in 02:00:38.

Ironmen Prove Worth - Ironman Switzerland (July 10th 2011)

Well done to STC Ironmen Justin "wee-man" Robbins and Chris Fox who completed Ironman Switzerland in stormingly good times of 10:19:06 and 10:33:51 (inaugural Ironman). Well done guys now take a rest!

Alpe D'Huez Long Course (July 27th 2011)

Claire Smith, Ali Hardie and Jesse Bailey all competed in the Alpe D'Huez long course event. (As if riding 21 harpins alone isn't enough !). Claire finished in 08:34:22, Ali in 10:46:43 but sadly the appalling weather, driving rain, cold and hailstones got the better of Jesse who posted a DNF (but promptly made up for this with his London Triathlon performance the following weekend).

UK 70.3 Win for Emma Kate Lidbury (June 2011)

Its been a great season so far for professional triathlete Emma Kate, taking wins at both Tristar 111 Nevis and Ironman 70.3 Mallorca. Read about Emma Kate's win at the UK 70.3 Wimbleball. Read more here:

Running - Joy for Jayne (from Swindon Advertiser 19th May 2010)

Jayne Parker took victory by a comfortable margin in the Marlborough Downs Challenge, 20-mile race completing the demanding off road course in a time of 2.31.20 more than six minutes ahead of her nearest rival. Read more here: 

Emma Kate claims bronze in Belgium (from Swindon Advertiser 12th August 2010)

SWINDON triathlete Emma-Kate Lidbury proved she is in fine form this season with another podium finish on the Ironman 70.3 circuit in Antwerp. Read more here:

Stenning is the star in the Swiss event (from Swindon Advertiser 18th July 2007)

Eight members of Swindon Triathlon Club took travelled to Zurich to take part in Ironman Switzerland....Stenning finished 13th overall and won the 35-39 age group in 09:05:56 which qualified him for the World Ironman Championships in Hawaii in October. Read more here:

 Sharna King is planning an assault on the world's top 10 after finishing this season in style by winning the Wimbourne triathlon at the weekend. Read more here:

Wylie triumphs amid the gloom (from Swindon Advertiser 12th September 2006)

There was Swindon success in the women's event as Sharna King took the 30-34 age group prize. Swindon'a Yasmin Smith meanwhile won the 17-19 category, finishing 58th overall in 59:53. Other tri club finishers included David McKinnon (01:01:37), Joe Wood (01:05:26) and Cantelle Ferris (01:06:14). Read more here:

A swindon duo will be pittiing their wits against the best this weekend as they compete for Great Britain in the World Triathlon Championships in Lusanne. Sharna King and Emma-Kate Lidbury (pictured) will be competing in Switzerland tomorrow after months of gruelling training sessions paid dividends. Read more here:
